Here are a few key thoughts that I’ve compiled from different sources this week. I decided to put them together and share them because they have become an important part of me. If they’re important to me, then I think they could be important to share with you.

Here are 3 key thoughts that will help you to build a successful network marketing business.

1. Relationship Marketing

Network marketing is really relationship marketing. You have to work at building a relationship with your customers and with your team. Today, we have the ability to reach out using so many types of social media to build our businesses and, if we’re not careful, we can forget the importantance of meeting people face-to-face.

Remember the phrase, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” It’s very true. If people get the sense that you are truly interested in their success and in their lives, then you have a much stronger business foundation. You can’t fake this. The people that you are in front of and working with will see right through any false front that you try to put up.

So work hard to get to know people. Talk to people and find out what drives them. Listen to them and learn what’s important to them. In doing so, you will find the way to match their needs to the solution that you provide. Ultimately, we are problem solvers. But you have to know the person to identify their problem so that you can offer the solution.

2. Invest in Yourself

We hear this so much that sometimes it gets old. Don’t let it. Your team will take on the personality of the leader, which is you. If you’re always negative, you’ll have a negative team. If you’re not learning, chances are your team isn’t either.

I saw something posted the other day about bathtubs and motivation. We have to take baths (or showers) daily to stay clean. Likewise, we have to immerse ourselves daily into motivation and positive thinking or we regress. Nothing in life is stagnate. We’re either growing or we’re rotting.

Don’t be afraid to spend money on your own personal growth. It’s the most important thing in your business that you can spend your money on. Buy the books. Buy the audio CDs to listen to while you’re driving. Purchase courses that will teach you the skills that you’re lacking. Get to your company’s big training events.

And here’s the key. After you learn something, go teach it to someone else. You make yourself valuable by learning and you contribute to life by giving.

Your team won’t grow if you don’t grow.

3. Don’t be Addicted to the Outcome

I have learned to love this phrase since I heard it taught to me. I was reminded about it again this week.

Go do the work. Work hard and do those things that are required to push your business forward. But don’t be addicted to the outcome.

If you post something that you think is of great value, don’t worry about who reads it, who shares it or how many “likes” you get. Just do what you know you should do. If you show someone your business, don’t worry if they like it and want to get started or if they tell you they aren’t interested.

The farmer can prepare the field and plant the seed. But he can’t control the crop yield. All he can do is keep planting, keep sowing the seed and if enough seed is sown, there will be a crop.

So remember to build relationships, invest in yourself and don’t take the outcome personally.
